My trip with Elevated Tanzania Safaris was simply incredible! From start to finish, the experience surpassed all expectations. The guides were exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate, making every game drive an adventure filled with unforgettable wildlife sightings. The accommodation and hospitality were top-notch, perfectly blending comfort with an authentic safari feel. I highly recommend them to anyone dreaming of a flawless Tanzanian adventure. It was truly the trip of a lifetime!

I am writing this review specifically to say "Thank you" to Simon Maguga who helped in crafting an excellent itinerary for us with special focus on the Great Migration and other highlights of Tanzania, . Although, we had to tweak it in some ways, he was very helpful and flexible, willing to adjust the itinerary to match our requests and doing his best to accommodate our budget constraints with great patience. His communication and service throughout the planning stages was commendable which, I think, makes for a good start.
Ultimately, our plans changed and we could not move forward with the trip, but we truly appreciated his time, professionalism, and effort. All in all, we had a positive experience working with Simon Maguga of Elevated Tanzania Safaris. Thank you, Simon!

Calving season questions
When exactly is the wildebeest calving season?
Calving runs from late January to mid-March, with the peak in February, when most of the roughly 500,000 calves are born in a window of about three weeks. Exact timing follows the rains, which is why our guides track the herds daily.
Where does the calving happen?
On the short-grass plains of the southern Serengeti and the Ndutu area of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The mineral-rich volcanic grass is exactly what nursing mothers need, so the herds return here every year.
How many days do I need?
We recommend at least 2–3 nights in the Ndutu area to give you the best chance of seeing births and hunts. Our most popular calving safari is 6 days, combining Ndutu with Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire.
Is it the rainy season? Will the weather spoil my safari?
January–February usually falls in a drier spell between the short and long rains. Expect warm, sunny days with occasional afternoon showers that bring spectacular skies and keep the plains green.
How far ahead should I book?
The best camps near the herds are few and fill early for February. We recommend booking 6–9 months ahead. If you are travelling sooner, message us: we often still find excellent options.
Can I combine calving season with Zanzibar or Kilimanjaro?
Absolutely. February is a great month for Zanzibar's beaches, and many guests add a few days on the island or a Kilimanjaro trek. We tailor every itinerary.
